Three generations of the Pine Wines family have perfected the production of Riesling, the "racy" little grape that skips across your tongue because of its lively acidity. Powerful fruit aromas of pear, peach, apricot, pineapple, honey and flowers greet the nose in this release. Delicious citrus flavors are repeated in the mouth.
Spring and early summer were normal with the weather during bloom very good, and so an excellent fruit set occurred. Despite the onset of La Nina in the autumn, significant work on canopy management including leaf thinning, cluster pruning, careful fruit exposure, and irrigation management allowed us to proceed into the fall with berry growth and ripeness as expected and the fruit in excellent condition.
Chief Winemaker Andrew Kamphuis comments, "early tastings of the whites are highly aromatic and lively, with a natural balance of fruitiness and the young reds indicate a pleasing suppleness of tannins and excellent colour. Overall, the colour, flavours, tannins and acidity all matured together beautifully and initial tasting reveals well-balanced wines."

Food Pairing Notes
Riesling is a chameleon-like wine that adapts to many dishes and a must for all “foodies”. The fresh fruit flavors of a jewel-toned pomegranate glaze served over scallops are a beautiful complement to the powerful fruity elements of Riesling. Served over scallops, this recipe makes a delicious appetizer. Or, sit the scallops atop a corn bisque garnished with dried beets for a full entrée. The glaze also enhances grilled chicken breasts offered over greens with a side of rice.
